1:1 School Nurse - RN
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 School Registered Nurse to join our educational team. This role focuses on providing direct, individualized nursing care and support to students with specific health conditions such as cerebral palsy, diabetes, epilepsy, among others, throughout their school day. The ideal candidate will ensure these students can safely and fully participate in their educational programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one nursing care tailored to the needs of a designated student with specific health conditions, ensuring their safety and well-being during school hours.
Administer medications, perform necessary medical procedures, and closely monitor the student's health as prescribed by their healthcare provider.
Collaborate with medical professionals, school staff, and families to develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for the student.
Respond effectively to medical emergencies or health status changes, providing immediate care and coordinating further medical response if needed.
Facilitate the student's engagement in school activities, modifying care and support as needed to promote their inclusion and independence.
Act as the primary liaison between the student’s family, healthcare providers, and educational team, ensuring clear communication and coordinated care.
Train and educate school personnel on the student's health needs, necessary precautions, and emergency response protocols.
Maintain detailed and confidential health records for the student, documenting all care provided and significant health observations.
Qualifications:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
Experience in pediatric nursing, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked with children with conditions such as cerebral palsy, diabetes, epilepsy, etc.
Demonstrated ability to perform pediatric medical procedures and medication administration with precision and compassion.
Excellent communication skills, with the aptitude for working collaboratively with children, families, and school teams.
CPR and First Aid certified, with a readiness to address and manage emergency situations.
Commitment to ethical nursing practices and understanding of legal considerations in a school setting.
Working Conditions:
